Madison and Dane County Bike Map [paper]
Madison, Wisconsin ranks near the top of everyone’s list of bicycle friendly cities. It has great trails, marked bike lanes and all of the amenities that one would expect of a city that lives and moves by bicycle. The riding gets even better out of town. Dane County offers challenging hills and hidden valleys to the west and the gentler, more open landscape to the east.
The 2nd Edition of the Madison and Dane County Bike Map is two maps in one: A detailed city map and a comprehensive larger scale map of Dane County and eastern Iowa County. Together they create a complete network of scenic, low traffic routes that will take you from city to country and back on the best cycling roads in the area.

Mt Horeb[pdf]
Mt Horeb is located on Military Ridge, a geologic feature that divides the Wisconsin River watershed to the north from two smaller watersheds to the south. Mt. Horeb is also within Wisconsin’s Driftless Area, an unglaciated mass of land that is deeply cut by the erosion of rivers. All of this adds up to hills. The route loops through scenic coulees, or narrow valleys, and wanders into the remote hill country of southwestern Dane County. Small woodlots and farms, minor tourist spots and ex-urban dwellings break up the land. Trees form a complete canopy of branches and leaves over the smaller roads.

Devils Lake[pdf]
This route uses low traffic backroads with names like Pheasant Branch and Springfield –Lodi Road and a ferry across Lake Wisconsin to get to the dramatic, talus sloped shores of Devils Lake State Park. Ambitious riders can make this into a 66 mile out-and-back day ride, but most will want to camp in Devils Lake State Park or spend the night in Baraboo. It’s the perfect introduction to weekend bicycle touring.
