One of the most popular trails in Minnesota follows the Cannon River from Cannon Falls to Red Wing, taking in panoramic overlooks and intimate river bottoms.

Welch Village, near the center of the trail, is the most popular access point. The trail drops at a steady rate from west to east. The grade isn’t steep, but you will notice the difference when you turn around. For an unusual experience, try riding the trail after dark under a full moon. The trail has a small daily or annual fee, a worthwhile investment because all of the money goes back into trail maintenance, creating perhaps the best maintained trail in the state.
